Hi there! I’m writing on behalf of my friend, Maggie Stout. Like myself, Maggie hails from the tiny Pocono Pennsylvania ski resort, Blue Mountain. In her younger years Maggie competed in competitive ski racing for our local slope, but lately her dedication to life on the snow has taken her to some amazing places. Today she is currently ranked 20th in the world and 8th in the nation for women’s freestyle skiing. Even greater so, if she continues to place well in the world cup tour this season, she will be able to compete in the women’s halfpipe event for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
However, I received a letter from Maggie today expressing a need for support. Though she continues work hard to earn money, all while balancing a life of training, travel, and sport progression, the economy and early competition season start this year has put a greater strain on her already small budget. In her letter she asked for readers to consider making a donation towards her journey to becoming an olympic athlete. Which brings me to the point of my submission..
I know none of you [probably] knows Maggie, but as someone who has seen her passion and dedication towards skiing grow throughout the years, I also figured it was worth a chance to try and spread her story in hopes that she might gain some new supporters- in finance, prayer, whatever. As someone who has grown up in the skiing/snowboarding world, I’m aware of the awesome community that comes with these sports. And as you’re surely aware, it is one which can offer immense support in times of need.
With that said I was hoping you could simply share this post with fyeahskiing’s followers as a means of helping my friend complete her dream, and become one of the first women’s olympic ski pipe competitors ever.
For anyone who would like to support Maggie financially, please message me here for more info. Thank you so much in advance!
